I also purchased the Focusrite Scarlett Solo with the hope this would help but to no avail. Never experienced this complete inability to use a software or hardware before. Reinstalling again now but with 9.5 old install with the hope I can try and get something done. I have used the software in studios for years and at live events and now I own my own with the Push 2 hardware (which I have to say is GENIUS, I highly advise when it works with the software!!!) after moving from Reason and Maschine 2 software, permanently to Ableton, and I am completely stumped. Almost £1000 of hardware and software and I can't even use it. I have now had well over a week where I cannot use the software or my hardware.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times as 64 bit and 32 bit, with Max versions to match each time and it makes no difference it still keeps crashing. I have installed the latest version of Max as well each time. Installed the new 9.6, and the second I load any instrument, any previously created file, large or small, it crashes the second I touch it. Was running with very little issues on the latest 9.5 release on Windows 10 in 64 bit. Installation is clean and setup perfectly. I have purchased the Ableton Push and the full Suite of Ableton within the last month.
